  1. WAXAHACHIE, Texas (AP) — A fire official says a massive blaze at a plant south of Dallas was sparked as workers mixed chemicals.

Fire Chief David Hudgins says he's not sure what chemicals were involved in the fire that broke out before 11 a.m. Monday at a Magnablend, Inc., facility in Waxahachie (wahks-uh-HA'-chee). No serious injuries were reported.

Hudgins says the fire should be brought under control by late afternoon and that about 1,000 evacuated residents should be allowed to return to their homes.

Nicolas Brescia of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency says the agency is monitoring air quality around the city and so far has found no reason to enact further precautions.

The blaze shot massive plumes of black smoke into the sky and forced the evacuation of schools and neighborhoods in the area.

    WTFRACK...WHAT THE FRACK?
    1. Fire Chief David Hudgins says he's not sure what chemicals were involved in the fire that broke out ??????? He's required to know to protect workers, fire fighters and the neighbors!!! Where is the Chief's evacuation plan? What does the State of Texas fire marshall say about the lack of knowledge by his Fire Chief?
    2. No serious injury's.... BREATHING IN TOXIC CHEMICALS is dangerous to pregnant women, children, and the elderly.... Were they looking for dead bodies to make this statement?
    3. The EPA is monitoring? FOR WHAT IF THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT CHEMICALS WERE RELEASED?

I can't believe what I'm reading... WAXAHACHIE, Texas Citizens should demand a meeting with the EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS OFFICIALS FOR THE STATE OF TEXAS AND DEMAND AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT BREW THIS COMPANY IS MIXING???? Maybe they will claim trade secrets like the oil and gas industry????

  2. Get a life people. everything is fine yea it smells but so does your crying about things that dont effect you. Most of you people crying about are just looking for a way out of working for the rest of your lives. Most of the stuff they use are in the food that you eat from the store and the drinks. Quit crying and get a life

  3. Safe? You be the judge. On the MSDS tab is a list of all the MSDSs that were turned over to Chief Hudgins. Many of the chemicals from the TIER II list are missing MSDSs. This is a massive FAIL on all levels: City, County, State and Federal.

This spreadsheet was compiled and many hours of research went into it before it was turned over to The Waxahachie Daily Light, CBS 11, NBC 5, WFAA 8 and CW33 on 10-19-11. (FOX 4 never called back, go figure.)
